Bloomsburg Sweeps Doubleheader Against Philadelphia

BLOOMSBURG - The Bloomsburg University softball team won a doubleheader against Philadelphia University on Tuesday afternoon, defeating the Rams 11-1 in game one and 7-0 in game two.

In game one, Ashley Lynn (Riverside/Danville) pitched a five-inning two hitter, allowing only one run while striking out 10 and walking none.

Stacy Krupiewski (Trooper/Methacton), Tara Emery (Sunbury/Shikellamy), Jennifer Miller (Muir/Williams Valley) and Alyson Taylor (Jersey Shore/Jersey Shore) all had two RBI for Bloomsburg. Tara Reed (Williamsport/Williamsport) and Lisa Bohner (Northumberland/Shikellamy) added three hits apiece in the win.

Lindsey Field knocked in the only run for Philadelphia on a single in the fourth inning.

In game two, Reed struck out 13 batters in four innings of work, allowing no runs and only one hit. Sheelin Fisher (Coplay/Allentown Central Catholic) pitched three scoreless innings in relief.

Kayleen Sidisky (Bellefonte/Bellefonte) and Kristen Koveleski (Mechanicsburg/Mechanicsburg) each had two RBI for the Huskies while Reed helped her cause with a solo homerun to lead off the game.

Bloomsburg (17-7), who is ranked 23rd nationally in Division II, will travel to Shippensburg on Friday to play the third-ranked Raiders in a 2:00 doubleheader.
